Lace In Translation

This past weekend I went to a really inspiring exhibit and demonstration at Philadelphia University called Lace in Translation. I watched master lacers create the most intricate bobbin lace. And then I went and saw the exhibit that was inspired by the Quaker Lace Company. The exhibit included 3 artists: Demakersvan, Tord Boontje, and Cal Lane.

Demakersvan created a beautiful chain link fence using lacing techniques.

Tord Boontje used lace making to inspired a couch and the use of natural materials such as grass.

Cal Lane welded a lace pattern into a 2000 gallon oil tank.

Pretty wonderful stuff. More info at: www.laceintranslation.com

Drive-bys

While we were in MN this past summer, I found myself driving a lot more than I was used to.
Especially country driving.

Countryside Antiques

In Cannon Falls, there's this amazing antique mall that Scott and I like to visit. The haphazard way things are put into cases makes the most incredible displays.
