Boca Raton II

We were in Boca Raton, FL this past weekend. My husband travels a lot for work, one of the perks is that Lilly and I sometimes tag-a-long. I was taken with this resort we stayed at. It was originally built in 1926. I'm not sure if Mr. Mizner built it, but he definitely made it what it is. He was an eccentric man that could be seen wandering the resort in a silk robe with his pet spider monkey, Johnnie, on any given day. Maybe that story alone made me like being there. It was also quite beautiful, which I wasn't expecting in Florida. I think Florida is weird and never really have high expectations, but I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I took lots of pictures, here are some of those:

Kapok Tree

I was obsessed with this Kapok tree. I loved the children's book about the Kapok tree when I was a kid.

Look at the amazing thorny texture!

Barn Swallows

I made Lilly origami barn swallows and strung them into garland for her room. I was so happy with how excited she got about them.

Baby Blue Sweater

My mom sent this beautiful sweater she made for my daughter. It's really amazing and is the exact same color as Lilly's eyes. It also has a funny little back story. My mom told me she started this sweater probably 40 years ago for my cousin, Pam. Well, somewhere along the way it got tucked away unfinished (as I'm sure many of you makers can understand). While cleaning out a closet last year, she found it! In a bag, with the yarn and pattern. All that needed to be done was the sleeves and finishing. Lucky for us, she tucked it away all those years ago because it sure is perfect for Lil.

Wannamake!

Check out these lovely beaded necklaces! Sold at sodafine.

Something New

I just finished this piece of lace. It still needs to be blocked, but I'm pretty excited. It's going to be a coin purse. I imagine a bride carrying it with necessities on her big day. I knit it from yarn left by my grandmother who made beautiful lace. Look for it on my etsy site soon!

Spring in West Philly...

It's amazing in West Philly in the spring. So many blooming trees, daffodils and crocus. I wish the photo of these magnolias showed their size. Each bloom must have been about the size of my face! that's a weird comparison but it's all that I can think of.

Lovely
